When you’ve had many houses in your life, you know very well what you want, and this client is an example of that. Her list of needs was very clear: she was looking for a simple and spacious house, with room for the loom and ceramics, and highly energy efficient. It was also she who challenged us to build a house with bales, something new for us and for the region. We worked together through the whole creative and learning process, resulting in a one-level house divided in half: on one side there’s a large central space, and two bedrooms on the other. The walls and roof were built with bales structured by special wooden frames that support the whole house.
